Aaeon has added four new UP Edge PCs and the BOXER-6648-ARS rugged Box PC to its industrial computing range. These products address the growing demand for compact edge control, upgrades to older systems, and AI-powered automation in factories.UP Edge Series ExpansionAaeon’s four new systems in the UP Edge lineup use Intel’s architecture, with processors such as the Intel Processor N250, Intel Core 3 Processor N355, and Intel Processor N150. This shared processor base lets system integrators adjust performance and features while maintaining consistent software and platforms across projects. To simplify long-term maintenance, all four UP Edge systems work with several operating systems commonly used in industry, including Windows 11, Ubuntu, and Yocto 5.1. This compatibility lets users choose the best option for their application, whether they need real-time or embedded Linux.UP Squared (Pro) TWL Edge PCsThe UP Squared Pro TWL Edge is Aaeon’s most advanced model in the UP Edge series. It is designed for developers and system integrators working on industrial AI projects. The platform features fast USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a 40-pin GPIO interface, and two storage options: a SATA port and an M.2 2280 M-Key socket. With an M.2 expansion, the device supports AI accelerator modules like 25 TOP DEEPX-powered solutions. This makes it a good fit for autonomous systems, predictive maintenance, and machine vision applications, without needing major changes to factory setups. The new UP Squared TWL Edge comes in a smaller size and provides flexible I/O options and system compatibility. For wireless connectivity, they include an expansion option with M.2 2230 E-Key and M.2 2280 M-Key slots for NVMe drives. This makes them a bridge between older automation equipment and modern networked control and monitoring systems.UP TWL and UP TWLS Edge PCsThe new UP TWL Edge and UP TWLS Edge are credit-card-sized PCs. The UP TWL Edge has a simple I/O setup for basic factory automation, while the UP TWLS Edge adds features like an 8-bit GPIO, LAN, three USB ports, and COM ports for RS-232/422/485. The UP TWLS Edge can be installed with DIN rail or VESA mounts, making it simple to use in control cabinets and industrial panels.BOXER-6648-ARS Box PCsAlong with the UP Edge lineup, Aaeon has launched the BOXER-6648-ARS, the company’s first fanless embedded Box PC with Intel Core Ultra Processors (Series 2), formally known as Arrow Lake. The system comes in two versions, using either the Intel Q870 or Intel H810 chipset. With Intel Core Ultra processors from Ultra 5 to Ultra 9, the BOXER-6648-ARS supports up to 24 CPU cores and delivers up to 36 TOPS of AI inference performance through its built-in CPU, GPU, and NPU. This makes it a good fit for demanding AI-powered industrial automation tasks.Industrial Connectivity, Expansion, and PerformanceThe BOXER-6648-ARS is designed for complex automation environments and offers a variety of I/O options, such as six DB-9 ports for RS-232/422/485 communication, an 8-bit digital I/O terminal block, and three Ethernet ports. Depending on the chipset, the box PC includes both USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 ports. The Q870 versions also support Intel Active Management Technology on its 2.5 GbE LAN interfaces. The new platforms support both SATA and NVMe storage and can handle up to 96 GB of DDR5 memory. For security, the BOXER-6648-ARS includes a built-in secure boot key and several BIOS-level protections, such as UEFI secure boot, rollback protection, and security flash. To help prevent unauthorized code execution during startup, the platform also offers OS-level secure boot support.
